I wonder if the Egyptian ladybug was actually a princess and the king she stopped was actually her father - if that's the case it was hard for her to fight her own dad, but as much as she loved her mother, she rather would be without one than have an innocent soul be sacrificed for a selfish desire, and since she couldn't get through to her dad as her, she'd go against him as ladybug.
